Sociologists have identified several social classes in the United States, including the upper, middle, working, and lower classes. The class consists of people who inherited their wealth those who have recently gained their wealth. The upper-middle class is composed of those in business, professions, politics, and the military. The middle-middle class, a much larger group, is a mixed bag of occupations and educational levels. People in the working class, the largest segment of society, have levels of education, income, and job stability. The working poor lack steady employment and do not earn enough to rise the poverty line. The underclass is composed of people who are usually or on public assistance.
